Confirmed: Nobel Prize is Worthless Piece of Junk
Friday, October 9th, 2009Maybe there is something in the water in Oslo:
President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to build momentum behind his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.
Obama said he was surprised and deeply humbled by the honor, and planned to travel to Oslo to accept the prize.
Personally, I felt that the Nobel “Peace Prize” lost its credibility years ago when they awarded it to a terrorist, namely Yassir Arafat, in 1994. It seems now that the Nobel people have dropped all pretense and are acknowledging that the awarding of this prize is based solely on the acceptability of a nominee’s politics.
The President’s response started off in the right direction:
“I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many transformative figures that have been honored by this prize,” he said.
Ok, he’s right. Regardless of what his plans are, the President has not really had the time to do anything substantial in the Foreign Policy area. He recognizes this, so this should lead to the next logical step — declining the award.
“I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the challenges of the 21st century.”
Oh, come on! You didn’t think The One’s© ego and arrogance was going to allow him to do the right thing, did you? Remember, he is The Obamasiah©, the one and only true hope for the survival of all mankind! The problems of the planet will cease to exist simply because he won the election!
Seriously, if I were Nelson Mandela (you know, someone who actually worked hard and suffered greatly for peace), I’d be tossing the prize into the garbage can. This is nothing less than a direct insult to people like him.
If Obama had any class whatsoever, he would have politely declined the award while explaining that he really had not yet done anything worthy of it. However, Obama is a man who has about ten times the arrogance of any man on Earth, and absolutely no class whatsoever.

Sounds like you have failed to understand the purpose and history of the prize, which has often been awarded not for accomplishment but for intention. Rachel Maddow does an excellent job of explaining the prize’s history and purpose.
??? What might be an example of Obama’s arrogance? Please cite an example of him acting without the utmost in class. Maddow is right – Obama Derangement Syndrom is well and truly upon us.
How anyone can not feel proud and patriotic that a sitting U.S. President won this prize is beyond me. Talk about a lack of class.

Why listen to Rachel Maddow when you can listen to the Nobel Committee itself?
If intention was all that was needed, anyone who wanted world peace (beauty pageant contestants come to mind) would be eligible to win. It still riles me that Jimmy Carter and Al Gore won this prize, but at least they had done something which could be argued about and discussed.
His lack of class is evident in the fact that even though he knows he has not done anything to earn this prize, he’s going to accept it anyway. Why should I be proud of someone who won something they didn’t earn? It’s obvious that this award was given to Obama for one reason and for one reason only — simply because he isn’t George W. Bush. The leftists in Oslo agree with Obama’s politics, so they gave it to him to show their approval.
