The scam that is Global Warming is starting to drive the people who believe in it insane:
James Hansen, one of the world’s leading climate scientists, will today call for the chief executives of large fossil fuel companies to be put on trial for high crimes against humanity and nature, accusing them of actively spreading doubt about global warming in the same way that tobacco companies blurred the links between smoking and cancer.
Once again, we see the typical liberal reaction to people who have the gall to disagree with them. I wonder, is this guy also going to drag the over 31,000 scientists who disagree with him into court?
It is fairly obvious to anyone who is paying attention that, despite what the Goracle says, there is no scientific consensus on global warming or its causes. In fact, since when was scientific fact ever proven by a “consensus”? A fact is not a fact just because a group of people say it is. A fact is a fact because it can be proven repeatedly no matter who is conducting the inquiry. In the case of global warming, you have more of an agenda-driven propaganda drive than anythng else. Environmental Wackos like Gore and Hansen hate the oil companies and the large profits they make, so they start telling everybody that if we continue to use oil and gasoline that the planet is going die and everybody will die with it. Then, the scams practically create themselves: carbon credits, ethanol, flouresent light bulbs, and on and on.
Its funny, but a lot of liberals spend a lot of their time calling conservatives fascist, but I have yet to see a conservative advocate the prosecution of someone just because they didn’t agree with him.

Flourescent light bulbs are a scam?
As for this:
but I have yet to see a conservative advocate the prosecution of someone just because they didn’t agree with him.
You really want to go there? Really? You want to remind people that when “conservatives” “disagree” with someone, what they advocate is war without end, detention forever and torture?
But back to your point.
Nick. Do you know why people (not just “liberals”) advocate the use of flourescent bulbs? Because they are more “fuel-efficient” than regular light bulbs. Is there really not a point at which thinking people in this country can come together and agree that “Fossil fuels are a finite source of energy and their use produces pollution which is Bad”? That not only is conservation a Good Thing but so is the development of technology around renewable energy? Does it ever occur to you to wonder who would challenge these concepts, and why?

More proof that Global Warming is a secular religion: they are now instituting their own Inquisition.

Ann:
Did you know that by using fluorescent light bulbs we will be filling the garbage land fills with toxic mercury? Mercury is used in the manufacture of fluorescent light bulbs. Exactly how does dumping mercury into the ground help the environment?
Also, the people whom you are referring to were captured on the battlefield fighting against our troops. They were not put into Gitmo for just “disagreeing” with conservatives.
Are you OK? You’re usually much smarter than this.

Also, the people whom you are referring to were captured on the battlefield fighting against our troops.
Not all of them were, Nick.
Thank you for your undoubtedly sincere and kind concern for my well-being. I am fine. I suppose we could get into a niggling argument about flourescent bulbs but that would distract from my main point, wouldn’t it? Maybe that was your intention.

When conservatives disagree with someone, they do “horrible” things like writing Letters to Editors and making fun of them on online message boards. Sometimes they even get upset enough to lobby for new laws, or the repeal of horrible laws.
When liberals disagree with someone, they try to work the entire world into a frenzy over unproven “science,” file lawsuits to get their way (against the will of the majority), and whine endlessly about life being unfair. Liberals are so consumed with the fear of life that they just can’t allow anyone else the liberty to pursue happiness.

It’s funny how liberals automatically demonize any business idea, however beneficial - such as life-saving drugs, if a Capitalist Running Dog Corporation happens to gain from it financially.
Yet there is no outcry against compact flourescents which, in addition to spreading mercury into the environment, are many times the price of an incandescent bulb, with only double the life. CFLs are a bonanza for the light bulb industry, that’s why their lobbyists helped pass a light bulb efficiency bill in the last Congress which pretty much makes incandescents obsolete within four years. Go Capitalism! Who cares about a few tons on mercury when we can all pride ourselves on our eco-vanity each time we look into our bathroom mirror and see that sick greenish-hued face cast by the CFL’s awful light.
