Hillary Still Stumping for Universal Healthcare
Friday, May 25th, 2007Even after having her plans rejected en mass by the public several years ago, Hillary still has an obsession with Universal Health Care:
“As president, I will end the practice of insurance company cherry-picking once and for all by allowing anyone who wants to join a plan to do so and prohibiting insurance companies from carving out benefits or charging higher rates to people with health problems,” Mrs. Clinton said.
Her address came as her main opponent in the Democratic field, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, is preparing to address health care costs on Tuesday in a speech in Iowa. Former Senator John Edwards of North Carolina, also a candidate, proposed a comprehensive plan earlier this year. Both would pay for providing universal coverage by repealing President Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.
A couple of notable things about the above quote: First, notice how both Hillary and Obama say that they will have the achievers in America pay for the health care of the poor. That’s right, just because you happen to work hard and educate yourself to the point where you can live a nice lifestyle, you will be forced to pay for health care for those who did not work hard. Second, this article from the New York Times illustrates their liberal bias clearly with the sentence Both would pay for providing universal coverage by repealing President Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Can they be any more shameless in their promotion of the liberal political aqenda?
Missing from Hillary’s health care plans are details on how she will deal with the types of degradation in care as experienced in all other countries whose health care is provided by the government. In countries like Canada and England, it isn’t unusual to have to wait for more than four months for a simple doctor’s appointment or x-ray. Heck, sometimes it may even take you months to receive urgently needed care. As “broken” as the health care system is here, if I need a doctor’s appointment I seldom have to wait more than a day or two, and if I need an x-ray or MRI, I can usually get it the same day.
Nationalizing health care is not the answer. No government-provided service I can think of runs smoothly or efficiently. Once the government gets into the business of telling drug companies what they can charge for their products, the drug companies will stop innovating and researching new drugs because they simply will not be able to afford it. In short, if America’s health care system is ever put under the yoke of government authority, you can look forward to the complete degradation of the quality of care for everyone, regardless of their needs.

Hillary Finally Has a Plan!…
Considering that her name is more closely associated with the issue than anyone else running for president, Hillary Clinton’s reluctance to produce a coherent policy statement on health care reform has been very odd indeed. Here’s AP trying its…
