Democrats Skip Debate Because Someone Might Ask A Question Not Covered By DNC Talking Points

Monday, April 9th, 2007

It was announced today that Democrat Presidential candidate Barack Obama will skip a debate jointly sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus and Fox News:

Barack Obama has chosen not to attend September’s Democratic presidential primary debate co-sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus Institute and Fox News, an aide said, effectively dooming the event.

Obama is the only member of the Congressional Black Caucus running for President, and his decision allows other candidates to skip the debate without facing criticism that they are turning their backs on a leading black institution.

. . .

“CNN seemed like a more appropriate venue,” the aide said, adding that Obama himself had not called CBC leadership or Fox executives to deliver the news. “It was handled at a staff level.”

The last paragraph directly above tells you all you need to know about why the Democrats are dropping out of these debates. It parrots the statement made by John Edwards when he dropped out of the same debate a week ago:

“We just called the CBC to let them know that we’re looking forward to their January debate with CNN but we’re not going to participate in the proposed debate with Fox. The CBC champions critical issues that matter enormously to the future of our country, and we look forward to discussing them throughout this campaign and at their debate in January. But we believe there’s just no reason for Democrats to give Fox a platform to advance the right-wing agenda while pretending they’re objective. If there was any uncertainty as to Fox’s objectivity, it was put to rest when they attacked Democratic candidates, Democratic constituency groups, and the Nevada Democratic party when their last proposed debate was cancelled [sp.] for lack of support.”

In summary: Unless the people sponsoring the debate are of the same idealogical mindset as the DNC and the Democrat Party, our candidates will not attend your debate. The last thing we want is for people to ask these candidates questions which have not been approved and completely scripted by the candidates’ handlers. Instead, the Democrat candidates will attend debates sponsored by CNN, which as everyone knows, is the only cable news station which has absolutely no bias whatsoever.

If these guys can’t handle taking a question or two from a Fox News reporter, can there be any doubt whatsoever that they would simply crumble when faced by an Ahmadinejad? These guys are poseurs, and completely undeserving of any respect whatsoever.

UPDATE: Please take a minute and answer the question asked by the CD Poll in the sidebar.

But your analysis contains a fundamental mistake. It assumes the dhimmies would have to beat the assorted nuts, tyrants, and monsters that lurk beyond our shores. They have no intention of doing so, they only have to convince enough of the ill educated but self satisfied that they have tha answers and spines to implement solutions.

Little wonder that they have such a mindset when we see the likes of Pelosi and Reid prattling on without having the balls to confront Bush directly on the war and present a clear cut alternative to allow the people to choose.
