Why Do We Have to Continue to Explain Ourselves?

Monday, September 11th, 2006

Five years ago, the United States of America was attacked by radical, religious terrorists. Acting in concert with one another, 19 Muslim terrorists killed almost 3,000 innocent civilians in New York, Washington, D.C. and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Women, children, men, the elderly; all were the victims of these extremist Muslims. These people had done absolutely nothing to these Muslims except live their lives as Americans. Still, after five years, America and the Bush Administration find themselves in the position of having to explain themselves when it comes to why we are fighting the War on Terror. Worse yet, a lot of the people demanding an explanation are themselves Americans.

Perhaps they do not remember this:

Imagine being put into the position of deciding that your best option is to leap to your death from the 100th floor. Yet the liberals want to kill the PATRIOT Act.

Perhaps those demanding an explanation have forgotten this:

One minute, you’re on your way to California. The next minute, your airplane is heading for one of the World Trade Center towers because it has been hijacked by Islamic Fundamentalists who want to kill all Americans. Yet, the liberals do not want us to profile Middle Eastern men when screening passengers at airport security gates because we might hurt their feelings.

Perhaps they didn’t hear about this:

Imagine you are sitting at your desk, talking to a colleague about the upcoming meeting in the conference room when a jet airliner comes through your office window. Yet, the liberals want us to negotiate with the terrorists and work out a diplomatic solution through the U.N.

Maybe this slipped their minds:

America’s first response to the attacks of September 11, 2001. Yet, the editors at the New York Times think that it is perfectly okay to tell the world about ongoing classified actions being taken to protect America and Americans, thereby alerting the terrorists to what we are doing and allowing them to avoid it.

It is amazing to me that after five years of reflection on the events of September 11, 2001 President Bush finds himself in the position of having to explain to members of Congress and other World Leaders why we are fighting the War on Terror. It puzzles me that 5 years later members of Congress and the press think it is more important to publicize the classified workings of our National Defense rather than to keep it secret. Finally, I have no words to describe the lack of understanding I have for members of Congress who are actually running on the platform of pulling our troops out of Iraq according to a well-publicized time-table, thereby allowing the terrorists to plan to their future attacks.

I say, “No more.”

From this moment on, all Middle Eastern men who wish to board an air plane within the United States should autoimatically be subject to extensive scrutiny. If they don’t like it, they can drive to wherever they are going.

From this moment on, carpet bombing should be the preferred way to clear large areas of land in the Middle Eastern theater. Kill them all, let God sort them out.

From this moment on, any member of the media who publishes or broadcasts the details of any classified operation should be jailed immediately and kept in custody until such time as a judge can determine whether or not he has committed treason. Further, anyone who works for the government who leaks information about a classified operation should likewise be jailed.

Finally, the United States should abandon the United Nations, and give them 30 days to vacate the New York Headquaters.  Even if the building stay empty for years to come, it will be infinately more useful than it is now.
