Another Day, Another Moonbat
Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006I received a comment on yesterday’s post regarding the results of last week’s CD Poll:
Funny that your site is a conservative forum, touting conservative family value viewpoints. Equally funny that you run a poll asking about everyone’s favorite Soprano’s episode.
Are Mafia values the type of thing you allow everyone in your household to become exposed to? This seems to run counter to the whole “family values cornerstone of modern conservative philosophy. Since you find humor in a waiter getting shot, allow me to fire off a salvo.
Apparently, because I have identified myself as a conservative, this guy (gal?) named “nio” assumes a lot about me and my family. He assumes that I don’t watch anything but G-Rated television shows which espouse nothing but 1950′s type family values. Truth is, I watch and enjoy many television shows and movies which depict life situations which are less than stellar. Watching these shows does not mean that I endorse the values or actions depicted in these shows or films. All it means is that I enjoy the show or film as entertainment. Similarly, just because I watch The Sopranos doesn’t mean that tomorrow I’m going to go out and start “whacking” people. Yes, I found the scene in which Pauly shot the waiter funny, because the scene was created, directed and written to be humorous. If you can’t comprehend that, then you’re beyond hope.
I’m not liberal or conservative. I simply want people to determine whats right for themselves, ya’know, freedom, free will, the right to do with your body what you will?
You know, if you think you have to lie about your political persuasion in order to have credibility, you probably don’t have any to begin with.
Here’s a clue. Instead of taking your lead from what your moral “leaders proclimate, and then abdicating those beliefs when it’s convienent, how about doing your own research into stuff. I’ll bet anyone who’s ever been shot doesn’t find that scene with the waiter funny. You could ask anyone returning from a corrupt and unjust war. By the way, a couple other points,
I’ve always wondered if the moonbats on the left actually believed that conservatives all wait around the fax machine until Karl Rove faxes our daily briefings so we know what to say and do each day. Apparently, they do, which doesn’t speak real well about their intelligence.
Yes, I do my own research, and no, I don’t abandon my beliefs. I am now and always have been for the Global War on Terror, whether it was in Afghanistan or Iraq. I’d ask you to point out to me where it is that I’ve abandoned my beliefs, but You can’t because I haven’t. As usual, this is nothing more than a “drive-by” accusation, baseless and unsupported by the facts.
This is not a christian country. It’s just a country. Conservative leaders are slowly but surely working to turn us into the Iran of the west. The truth is, America hasn’t been a great country since the end of WWII.
The Republican Party didn’t free the slaves, nor did Abe Lincoln. Initially, Lincoln believed that slaves should be property. The civil war began over the state of California. The south wanted a new slave state, the north didn’t.
The spin conservatives put on history is one of the fundamental reasons why this country is in the trouble it’s in today. When history is rewritten with a skewed perspective, knowledge is lost.
Knowledge that conservatives obviously need.
Maybe you need to do some research, “nio.” This country, while not founded as a Christian-based theocracy, was founded on Christian principles. The First Amendment, which has been twisted by liberal activist judges to prevent to practice of religion in public places, was actually intended to protect the practice of religion in public and private. It also prevents America from becoming a theocracy like Iran.
As far as freeing the slaves goes, I’ve seen the Emancipation Proclamation in person, and I can tell you that Abe Lincoln signed it. Now, I don’t know which tortured, twisted rationalizations you make to claim that he didn’t free the slaves, or whom you think actually did, but without any proof, your assertion is nothing more than demonstrated ignorance. As for the history of the Civil War and it’s aftermath, it has been around long enough to have been re-written by historians of all political persuasions. Again, to claim that only conservatives have skewed history is nothing more that more demonstrated ignorance.
But I digress. The really fuinny thing about anyone on this site liking the Sopranos is the fact that a liberal establishment provided that entertainment for you.
At some point, you will choke on your own hypocrisy.
Yes, the liberal entertainment establishment provides the majority of the product which is shown on American televisions and movie screens. How does watching these products make me a hypocrite? As I’ve eluded to before, I don’t govern my life by the values I see portrayed on the screen.
Criticism is a useful thing when applied correctly, and with intelligence. Criticism applied with neither is nothing more than noise to be squelched.
