Dear Babs: It’s Called a “Spell Checker”
Monday, March 6th, 2006In her posting of February 28, 2006, Barbra Streisand once again put her lack of intelligence on display for all the world to see:
Barbra Streisand has launched a new spelling error-ridden dispatch on the Internet — a dispatch that mocks President Bush for being a “C student!”
In her February 28th, 2006 essay, Streisand flubs 11 words, a personal record.
• Irag
• curruption
• dictatoriship
• crediblity
• Adminstration
• warrented
• desperatly
• preceedings
• ouside
• subpoening
• responsibiltyAnd this time around, Streisand makes four spelling errors — in one sentence!
Look, everyone who posts on the Internet makes the occasional spelling or grammatical error; it’s inevitable. However, most people who are going to post regarding someone else’s lack of schooling or intelligence usually makes sure that their post has no spelling or factual errors. Apparently, Babs either believes she is incapable of making errors or she had some teen-aged flunky throw this post up on her web site. Either way, it practically begs the public to mock her.
As for the factual content of her rant, the contents are the same old liberal talking points, dressed up with the addition of new unfounded allegations regarding the port management deal currently in the works. To wit:
First, Bush ignored clear warnings before 9/11 about an impending terrorist attack. He then lied to the public about the presence of WMDs in Iraq and rushed to unilaterally invade the country after promising to work with the United Nations. Now, more than four years after the worst attack on American soil, Bush and his adminstration have yet to capture Osama bin Laden, the person responsible for 9/11. The Republican majority continued to be silent during the President’s horrible mismanagement of Hurricane Katrina. They turned their back when the President appointed inexperienced inept buddies to the most important government positions. They looked in the other direction when their fellow Republican leaders came under indictment for fraud and corruption. And they continued to do nothing as the President trampled on the American public’s most basic rights by wiretapping phone lines and conducting warrantless searches ouside of the congressionally mandated rules of the Federal Court.
Let’s go through these one more time. Exactly what clear warnings regarding the 9/11 terrorist attacks is she referring to? Are these the same clear warnings that the Democrats on the Intelligence Committee ignored? No one lied about WMD in Iraq; in fact, every reputable intelligence agency in the world agreed that Saddam had WMD and that they needed to be removed. As for working with the United Nations, America, along with it’s allies, worked with the U.N. for over 12 years to get Saddam to disarm, and he didn’t do it.
Now, it is true that we have not captured Osama bin Laden yet. However, if she thinks that by capturing OBL we’ll end the War on Terror and that America will be forever safe she’s less intelligent than she appears. As for Hurricane Katrina, as far as I can tell, President Bush was not personally responsible for the relief effort after it hit. In truth, a collection of federal, state, and local authorities were responsible for the relief efforts and there were major problems all up and down the line. In fact, most people have acknowledged that the main source of problems during the aftermath of Katrina could be traced directly to Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco, both of whom are Democrats.
As for fraud and corruption, both parties have their share of criminals. If you want to talk about serious corruption, let’s talk about Al Gore and the Buddhist Monks, Charlie Tree, or Bill Clinton’s pardon of Marc Rich. As for the wiretapping of telephone calls between American citizens and known terrorists calling from outside of the country, I don’t remember which portion of the Constitution it is that allows someone to do this without fear of being caught. What about you, Babs? Have you even read the Constitution? If you have, did someone who comprehends English explain it to you? Just checking.
Finally, after reading her entire diatribe, I noticed something. She spends the entire post complaining about this problem and that problem, about lack of security and corruption, and then tries to tell you that the only solution is to vote more Democrats into the Congress so they can impeach the President. Setting aside the obvious fact that this is nothing more that partisan clap-trap, if this were to happen does she really think that all of the problems would go away? Is it her honest contention that only Democrats can run the government honestly and provide security for all? Can she really state this with a straight face?
It has been said recently by many pundits that the extreme, far left element of the Democrat Party has taken over the leadership role, and certainly people like Howard Dean are a good example of that. What you have to remember is that when people like Babs speak to people like Howard Dean and other members of the Democrat Party, they listen and take her seriously. So when you worry about how the left says that they’re going to win back the Senate or the House, remember who it is that is leading these folks, then go out and vote Republican with all of your friends.
UPDATE 3/7/2006: According to the NY Daily News, Bab’s people are blaming the errors on the company that runs her web site. It also says that in the future, Bab’s office will post the material. I guess that means that the next time this happens (it’s happened before) she’ll only have herself to blame.
