Ted Kennedy Channels Howard Dean

Monday, January 30th, 2006

Honest to God, I thought Ted Kennedy’s head was going to explode and cover the entire Senate floor with bourbon:

KENNEDY: The march towards knocking down the walls of discrimination that permitted us to pass a 1964 civil right act in public accommodations so people whose skin was not white could go into restaurants and go into hotels. Public accommodation. The 1965 act for voting rights. 1968 Act for public accommodations. The 1973 act to say that women are going to be treated equally. The Americans with Disabilities Act that said the disabled are going to be part of the American family. All of that is the march to progress. And my friends, the one organization, the one institution that protects it is the Supreme Court of the United States

Apparently, Kennedy thinks that by confirming Judge Alito to the Supreme Court, immediately all of the laws that he’s screaming about are going to be repealed. I mean, this guy was unhinged! I couldn’t believe how he was shouting, ranting, and raving. He was trying to get the confirmation vote delayed so that the Democrats who oppose Alito could persuade the American people that Judge Alito was not in the mainstream and that he was going to make it his personal mission to strike down every civil rights law on the books.

It looks like the Senate’s biggest embarrassment just keeps chugging along. I wonder if the other Democrat Senators are starting to get tired of his shtick?

Both Michelle Malkin and Expose the Left have more. You really have to watch the video to get a sense of just how out-of-control Ted Kennedy was.
