Howard Dean is letting his mouth out of it’s cage again, with typical results:
“The first thing we’re going to do is we’re going to have ethics come back to Washington again,” said Dean, the keynote speaker at Saturday night’s annual fundraising dinner for the Maine Democratic Party at the Lewiston Armory.
To deal with the “culture of corruption,” Dean said, there needs to be an ethics code in Congress and stronger campaign finance laws.
Of course, by ethics Dean means rules and laws which are favorable to Democratic members of Congress. Problem is, the last time that happened Bill Clinton and his ilk sold our military secrets to China for a few campaign dollars. Yeah, them’s ethics!
Dean said that if Democrats don’t stand up for themselves, voters won’t have any reason to believe they would be well-represented.
“We have to stand up and say who we are and why we believe what we believe,” he said.
Dean said if the Democrats were to regain power, the party would be strong on national defense. He said the party never would send troops abroad without telling them the truth about why they were going, and without adequately arming them.
First of all, I hope they do stand up and tell America what they stand for, because by doing so they will have eliminated any chance of their getting elected in significant numbers to Congress of State government. As far as being strong on defense is concerned, nobody will buy it. The last two Democratic Administrations had terrible defense records and did little to support the military. Instead, the neutered it and put America in great danger.
Dean said that Democrats also would make sure every American has access to health insurance.
“If 40 industrial nations can do it and balance the budget at the same time, it’s time to have somebody in the White House who can chew gum and think at the same time,” he said.
Can you say “socialism?” I knew that you could.
Dean said Republicans should not have interfered in the Terri Schiavo right-to-life case.
“I’m tired of the ayatollahs of the right wing,” Dean said. “We’re fighting for freedom in Iraq. We’re going to fight for freedom in America.”
First Bush is a Nazi, now he’s an Ayatollah. Does anyone else sense a pattern here? Is all Howard Dean going to do is make comparisons between President Bush and figures of hate and terror of the past? Is that what Democrats believe in? Is that what Democrats are fighting for? How, exactly, does doing this restore ethics to Washington?
As always, the “leadership” of the Democratic Party is asleep at the wheel as Dean drives it into a ditch. Honestly, I have no idea whether or not the Democratic Party, under it’s current Administration, can remain a viable political party for much longer. They fail to advance ideas, they fail to advance solutions, and they obstruct anyone who isn’t a Democrat from advancing their ideas and solutions. I always knew that donkeys were stubborn, I just didn’t know that they were this stupid.

As long as Dean is at the helm, the hard left is satisfied. Someone in power is saying what they want said.
Which means, the hatred and intolerance will increase, the rhetoric will get louder and more shrill, and the direction of the democratic party will veer even further towards total lunacy.
The blame-Bush tactic will become standard for all republicans. Imagine how many more democrats will call Condi a nigger if she gets elected in 2008.
Dean will be considered a moderate in years to come.
