What Do You Call It?

Tuesday, December 28th, 2004

Via Hud’s Blog-O-Rama, some research has actually been done on how people refer to soft drinks. When I first came to Texas, it seemed everyone called a Coke a soda water. Previously, when I had lived in Illinios, it was called a pop. In California, all sodas were referred to as a Coke.
In any event, go here and take a look at how the nation refers to soft drinks.

One Response to “What Do You Call It?”

  1.   Edward Chmura Says:

When I went to Massachussetts in the military years ago, people I was with in Springfield called any carbonated drink a “tonic.”

When I said we (Chicago) call it “soda,” the people I was with laughed and said, “You sound like our cousin up in New York!”
